Benefits Realization Review: Personal Training OS¶
Artifact: 7.2 (Phase 7, Closure) · Owner: Delivery Manager (Primary User) · Date: 2026-07-09
Did the project deliver the value the charter promised? Assessed against the charter's success criteria (SC1 to SC6). "Realized" = evidence it holds today; "on track" = designed and delivered, full measurement pending; "partial" = some value with caveats.
Scorecard¶
| SC | Measure | Target | Outcome | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SC1 | Adoption / sustained use | Active through race week (25-26 Jul) and >=30 days, no >7-day gap | System live since 2026-07-05; daily syncs writing through 2026-07-09; activities, wellness metrics, and nutrition all flowing. Race week and the 30-day window are still ahead. | On track (full measure post-race-week; monitored via RAID R1) |
| SC2 | Low-effort capture | Majority automated or a few taps | Exceeded. Garmin activities + wellness, Withings weight, hockey scheduling, and MyFitnessPal nutrition all ingest automatically on the daily job; manual entry is the exception. | Realized (exceeded) |
| SC3 | Multi-person | Primary User and Secondary User both live | Both first-class; the Secondary User's tracking validated at UAT-5. | Realized |
| SC4 | Insights without tallying | Dashboard >= shoe mileage + training load | Shoe-mileage rollup + hockey load live; now also fed by Garmin wellness (readiness/HRV/sleep) and per-meal nutrition. | Realized (exceeded) |
| SC5 | Materials | >=1 running + 1 strength + 1 hockey plan | All three linked/embedded (SC5 fast-follow, delivered). | Realized |
| SC6 | Gear tracking | Shoe mileage accrues from logged runs | Automatic rollup, now also fed by the live Garmin activity sync. | Realized |
Summary¶
Five of six success criteria are realized, two of them (SC2 low-effort capture, SC4 insights) beyond target, because the post-release increments turned "automation-ready" into actually automated. SC1 (sustained adoption) is on track but not yet fully measurable: the race-week forcing function and the 30-day window are still ahead, and it is monitored as RAID R1 (>7-day staleness).
Value delivered beyond the plan¶
The charter scoped v1 as automation-ready, with live integrations explicitly out of scope. In practice the project delivered four live, idempotent, gated integrations (Garmin activities + metrics, Withings, hockey auto-schedule, MyFitnessPal nutrition), so the "single owned, low-effort, automatable place" the problem statement called for is not merely possible but running. These increments carry operational evidence only (green daily sync logs and verified rows), not a formal V&V run. The main un-banked benefit is the formal verification of those increments; see the post-implementation review for its disposition.
